Getting started
Back up your server in three steps
GuildVault saves your Discord server's structure — roles, channels, permissions, emoji and settings — so you can preview it and put it back if something goes wrong.
Before you start
You need Manage Server or Administrator on the Discord server you want to back up. GuildVault only shows servers where your account has one of those.
The three steps
- 1
Sign in with Discord
Go to Log in and continue with Discord. We only ask to see your name, email and the list of servers you're in — never your messages or password. - 2
Add the GuildVault bot
Open Servers in your dashboard and press Add bot next to your server, or use Add to Discord. Then, in Discord, open Server Settings → Roles and drag the GuildVault role above the roles you want it to restore. - 3
Take your first backup
Press Manage on the server, then New backup. Name it, choose what to include, and watch it finish. It appears under Backups, where you can preview it like the real Discord app.
Why the role position matters
Discord only lets a bot edit roles that sit below its own role. If the GuildVault role is too low, those roles get skipped during a restore — the report tells you which ones. What a backup includes
- Server settings — name, icon, banner, verification level, AFK and system channels
- Roles — colors, permissions, order, icons
- Categories and channels — text, voice, forum, announcement and stage, with topics and slowmode
- Permission overwrites for every channel
- Emoji, stickers and soundboard sounds (stored as real files)
- Optional extras — auto-mod rules, scheduled events, onboarding, welcome screen, webhooks, ban list, member roles, pinned and recent messages
Backups are encrypted before they're stored. Bot tokens and webhook secret links are never saved.
Automatic backups
On Basic and Premium you can turn on scheduled backups from a server's Schedule tab — daily on Basic, and hourly, daily or weekly on Premium. Free accounts take backups by hand. See Plans & billing for every limit.
